It certainly seems like things are finally going Nikki’s way on The Young and the Restless. This mess with Jordan seems to have been finally put to bed. Claire’s integrating into the family. Nikki seems to be doing great with outpatient rehab.
Sure, she’s not thrilled about Adam temporarily taking her spot at Newman Media but, as she told Jack, it wasn’t worth fighting over to the point that it upset her sobriety. And as Victor’s assured her, it’s just while she recovers. (You can read yesterday’s Young & Restless recap here.) But if things are mostly looking up for her, why is she suddenly stirring up trouble and why did she just pick a fight with Jack out of nowhere?
Yesterday, she needled him about being worried that his conflict with Kyle would push him to start taking pills again. And then she laid into Diane, pushing hard the idea that she’s been playing a long con and, now that Kyle’s out, she’s got everything she ever wanted, which is running Jabot with Jack.
She painted it over with a veneer of wanting what’s best for Jack, and the mentioned the two of them promising to be honest with each other, but it was a pretty darn low blow out of nowhere. If Kyle clashing with his dad doesn’t push him to pills, Nikki undermining his marriage sure as heck could!
She even followed him from the Club to his Jabot office to keep pushing at him! What the hell? It made no sense besides suddenly getting a hankering to create drama… unless Nikki’s not taking Adam replacing her as well as she claims.
She admitted that fighting it would be a threat to her sobriety, so what if it’s already taken its toll? What if she’s already started sneaking a nip here and there again and her needling Jack happened when she was less than sober?
Because we can’t think of any other reason why she’d suddenly decide it was time to start dredging up her problems with Diane once again and laying into Jack. What do you think? Is Nikki just feeling like hitting Jack when he’s down, or is something more going on?
