Following the 118-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors have an inferior opponent on their Tuesday schedule. However, while the 10-34 Utah Jazz appear like an “easy” game for the struggling Warriors, there is quite the roadblock in personnel availability. The Warriors injury report vs. the Jazz reveals two key players.
Warriors Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga won’t play against the Jazz on Sunday for the Chase Center crowd.
Instead, Stephen Curry must carry the Warriors, although he only mustered 13 points vs. the Lakers, as Andrew Wiggins scored 20 points in the loss.
When will Green and Kuminga return to the 11th-seed Warriors?
The Warriors PR team announced Green is in a day-to-day return status after missing the previous four games due to a strained calf on Jan. 18 against the Washington Wizards. Green looked in good spirits after the Warrior’s loss to the Lakers as he joined Curry at center court to share pleasantries with LeBron James.
The Warriors suffer without Green’s basketball IQ and physical and emotional ferocity. In its previous four games, Golden State’s defensive rating has dipped to 28th, dropping 17 spots for the 2024-25 season.
Regarding Kuminga, his return wait is longer due to suffering a right ankle sprain on Jan. 4 vs. the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors wing will receive a re-evaluation in two weeks.
While Curry has moments of greatness, he’s reached a point in his career where he can’t play superstar for long stretches of the season. Golden State will sorely miss Green and Kuminga vs. the Jazz.
