Travis Hunter continues to bolster his case as a Heisman Trophy candidate after capping off another great performance against the Colorado State Rams. Hunter once again showcased he is a threat in both offense and defense.
On Saturday, the Rams welcomed their instate rivals at Fort Collins for the first time since 1996. It was entirely a Travis Hunter show, as he connected 13 times with quarterback Shedeur Sanders for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The first one came in the third quarter with a perfect layoff from Sanders to Hunter for a 2-yard touchdown, and the second one, just a few minutes into the fourth, found Hunter again for a 21-yard TD.
Hunter played his part in defense as well. He had to respond after the Rams’ quarterback, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, taunted the 21-year-old early on. The CBS cameras caught Nicolosi pointing out that Hunter was a short individual.
Hunter paid him back by picking his pass off right at the end of the third quarter and carrying the ball back inside the Rams 40-yard line.
This was a big week for the Rams as the PAC-12 announced the addition of the Colorado team to the conference after the Buffaloes left to join the Big 12 this off-season. Regardless, the Rams are now 1-2 in 3 games after losing 29-3 to the Buffs.
Shedeur Sanders ended the day by completing 36/49 for 310 yards (71.3% completion rate) and 4 touchdowns. The Rams have to wait until 2029 to exact their revenge on the Buffs.a

Last year the Buffaloes won the fixture in double overtime as tension boiled over. The Rams players who are still around on the roster taunted Sanders and Hunter before the game.

We owe them one [because] that’s something that’s been sitting on everybody’s mind since we came back from break.
Star player Romi Beans said as per Athlon Sports
It backfired big time, and after the Buffs secured the win, Coach Prime made sure to address it in the presser.

Who does that? [on Rams players interviews before the game] I am not gonna let kids do that, and you know that… When you allow kids to sit in an interview talk against us, and you just got beat by 50-something in week 1? Come on, dawg, somebody help me here. Am I missing something? I don’t see where this is done in sports.

With the win over the Rams, Sanders’ team is now 2-1 after 3 games. Up next, they will play against Baylor, who are 2-1, at home next week.
