In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , screenwriter Chris Morgan reassured fans by saying: “We don’t know Shaw’s whole story yet. I think there is still a lot to discover about the character and everything will be very interesting when it becomes clear.”
“In a way, I think Deckard Shaw is no different from Dominic Toretto. The reason he chases Dom’s family is because Deckard is also a family person. He did this to avenge his brother. The audience was actually able to understand the character’s motivations better right from part 8,” he added.
To understand more about Deckard Shaw, audiences will have to wait for Fast & Furious 9 , scheduled to be released on April 19, 2019.
