“I hate Taylor Swift!” – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wrote on social network Truth Social on September 15.
Trump posted the above article in all capital letters. He did not comment or explain it.
Trump’s statement came less than a week after American singer Taylor Swift publicly endorsed and would vote for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election for the first time.
The pop superstar expressed her support for Harris after the first debate on September 10 between Harris and Trump. The two candidates faced off on the Philadelphia debate stage, talking about issues such as abortion, immigration, the economy and foreign policy.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (Democratic vice presidential candidate) in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift said in an Instagram post.
The “Love Story” singer explained: “I am voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights that I believe need a warrior to defend. I think she is a strong, capable leader and I believe we can achieve so much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos.”
According to AFP, Swift has more than 400 million followers on Instagram, TikTok and other social media platforms. About 10 million of them have “liked” her Instagram posts.
It is unclear what Mr Trump hoped to achieve with his latest post. Earlier, in response to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Ms Harris, Mr Trump – who has 7.71 million followers on Truth Social – said he was “not a Taylor fan”.
