Lionel Messi’s eldest son, Thiago, contributed to the U13 Inter Miami team’s victory over Orlando City Youth SC.
While Argentine fans eagerly await Messi’s return, Thiago Messi continues to make his first steps as a young footballer for Inter Miami’s youth squad.
Recently, Messi’s firstborn made headlines by scoring one of the goals for his team.
In the opening match of this season’s MLS Next League, Inter Miami crushed Orlando City Youth SC with a 10-1 scoreline. Thiago played a part, contributing to one of the team’s goals.
A video captured Thiago receiving the ball, skillfully controlling it before unleashing a powerful right-footed shot to beat the opposing goalkeeper. Thiago, who will turn 12 on November 2, continues to draw attention at the U13 level, where he shares the field with Benjamín Suárez, son of Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi’s close teammate and the recently retired Uruguay national team star.

What’s intriguing about this is that some time ago, Argentina’s national team captain admitted that his eldest son wasn’t interested in football in his early years: “I didn’t buy him a ball. Thiago wasn’t that into football,” Messi revealed.

Messi edges closer to his return to the field
Barring any setbacks, Lionel Messi is expected to return to the pitch next Saturday, September 14, when Inter Miami faces Philadelphia at Chase Stadium in a new round of Major League Soccer.
As a result, the Argentine national team eagerly awaits their legendary player for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in October. During that period, the Argentine team will face Venezuela away and Bolivia at home.
