IT was a super Sunday for ex-Manchester United pair Jose Mourinho and Fred as Fenerbahce cruised to a 5-0 victory.
Mourinho, 61, joined the Turkish giants over the summer with the aim of winning the league title after scoring 99 points but losing out to Galatasaray last season.
Jose Mourinho shared a joke with Fred after he was subbed off in a 5-0 win
It came after the Brazilian netted his first career hat-trick
Fred’s first goal came from long range in the first half
His second after the break saw him shoot across goal
While his third saw him squeeze home a shot from a rebound
This saw him reunite with Brazilian midfielder Fred, whom he signed for Man Utd in his final summer at the club.
And Fred – making his first Turkish Super Lig start of the season – wasted no time in showing he would be someone his new boss could rely on for the upcoming season.
The 31-year-old surprisingly netted his first career hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Caykur Rizespor.
His first strike saw him arrow a shot into the bottom corner from long-range past goalkeeper Gökhan Akkan after 15 minutes.
In the second half the one-cap Turkey international was then beaten by Fred.
It came as former Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin slipped a pass down the left channel for Fred to run onto before firing a shot into the far corner, with Akkan’s hand not strong enough to push it away.
The cherry on top came just four minutes later as Fred was first to react to a rebound and managed to squeeze home a shot with his outstretched left leg.
Fred was all smiles after his hat-trick and shared a laugh with an equally jubilant Mourinho on the subs bench after he was taken off in the 81st minute.
Reacting to the clip of the pair on social media, one fan said: “Fred is a Mourinho kind of player.”
A second said: “These two used to be at my club,” alongside with a video of a sombre-looking Michael B. Jordan.
A third added: “Good to see them having a great time in Turkey.”
Another said: “What a player.”
Fred also took to social media to pay homage to his hat-trick, sharing a picture of him celebrating while pointing up to the sky and saying: “Hat-trick. Winning on the road. Thanks God!”
Fred left the Red Devils to join the team in the summer of 2023.
Mourinho’s life in Turkey has started off somewhat erratically.
Earlier this month, he witnessed Fenerbahce lose to Lille in the second round of Champions League qualification.
After three league games—two victories and a draw—he has yet to experience defeat.
