The I.M. Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, so we weren’t exactly surprised to learn it would be making a big screen appearance in Guy Ritchie’s latest movie.
And now the action comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, which was filmed partially in Doha, is out in cinemas around the globe.
Starring action superstar Jason Statham, spy Orson Fortune is tasked with tracking down and stopping the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds, played by Hugh Grant.
Those aren’t the only big names to look out for, either, as Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes and Bugzy Malone will star as Statham’s crew, alongside Josh Hartnett, who portrays a movie star they recruit to help with their undercover mission.

Filming took place in Qatar in January 2021, with Statham spotted at the Museum of Islamic Art courtyard as well as on a speedboat nearby.
After leaving Qatar, filming for the movie also took place in Turkey and Farnborough in England.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre is the third movie Hollywood film studio MIRAMAX have worked with Guy Ritchie on, following The Gentlemen and Wrath of Man.
