“They show appreciation for when I’m doing all the small stuff. I ain’t doing all the crazy dunks and stuff like that,” said Kevon Looney after an emphatic performance last night. The Warriors had a magical game on Wednesday, defeating the OKC Thunder for the 2nd time this season. It wasn’t magical because they defeated the top-seeding team, but the way they got the job done. The team’s core and the real ones- GP2, Kevon Looney, and Andrew Wiggins, came together, pitched in at crucial times, and made it possible.

However, one of them is currently nervous. It’s Loons. The Bay’s rebounding machine, after the game, felt that his time in the Warriors fold may come to an end. Why? Because he holds a valuable expiring contract worth $8 million.

The Center hasn’t donned any jersey other than Dubs in his 10-season-long career. He has seen the ups and downs of the side while collecting three rings. Last night, Kevon Looney, along with Payton and Wiggins, played like it was one of their last games for the franchise. Especially, Looney, who has been off the starting lineup for a while, lodged up 18 points (5-7 FG) with four blocks, coming off the bench. The performance seemed like a plea to the front office, stating that the 6 ‘9 tall body still has a lot to offer for the side.

Following the game, Looney didn’t hesitate to open up about his anxiety. “I want to stay,” said the big man, expressing his wish. He added, “I’ve been here long enough. My locker mate’s changed a lot of times. It might be my time. Who knows? That’s the NBA. I definitely will not be sleeping that night, whenever that time is for the trade deadline. I’m gonna be up,” reported The Athletic.

Will the Golden State Warriors get rid of Kevon Looney?

A few days ago, Stephen Curry shocked everyone when he said he didn’t want to mortgage the team’s future. Looks like Joe Lacob & Co. didn’t take the hint… February 6th, 3 PM ET, that’s the deadline. That’s when we would know whether the Warriors stuck with what they had or broke some hearts in the hoops community.

The Warriors have been on the trade block since the start of the season. In short, the team has been looking for a co-star alongside Steph to care of the offense business. Especially after the exit of Klay Thompson, the Bay didn’t seem to have found a perfect replacement. A bunch of options like Zach LaVine, Jimmy Butler, and Brandon Ingram kept making their cameos in the trade rumors. But the team finally has a realistic and effective option in the rumor mill. It’s the Pacers’ Myles Turner.

As Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World pointed out, “His (Turner’s) ability to protect the rim and stretch the floor would address two of Golden State’s biggest weaknesses—rebounding and size.” And, “Pairing Turner with Draymond Green would give the Golden State Warriors a defensive core that could dominate inside,” Bitar added.

The 6 ’11 big has already been excessively rumored to be joining the Lakers, but the Dubs have also expectedly entered the room. With Loon and GP2 in expiring contracts, spicy for the trade market, the Dubs may heartbreakingly give them up for the offense-dominant Center. Will it be Loon’s end then? What do you think?
