Despite successfully recruiting Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, coach Erik ten Hag still wants Man United to add a left-footed defender and Mario Hermoso is the top priority.
Man United are continuously bringing quality new players to Old Trafford in this summer transfer window. Most recently, they successfully recruited Bayern Munich’s defensive duo Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
These are considered perfect replacements for Rafael Varane and Wan-Bissaka. However, MU does not want to stop there when coach Ten Hag still needs another left-back because Luke Shaw has been confirmed to have a relapse of injury and will be absent in the early stages of the season.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Mario Hermoso remains a possible target for the Old Trafford side. The Spanish star has become a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid ended.
Notably, Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Hermoso is keen on joining Man United: “Regarding adding a left-footed player to the defence, there are still some opportunities. They have had talks with Mario Hermoso’s agent. He is still a free agent. So Mario Hermoso wants to go to Manchester United.”
The Old Trafford team is looking to speed up the deal before the new Premier League season starts. Coach Ten Hag and his team recently lost to Man City in the Community Shield. Man United’s squad is also in crisis as in addition to Luke Shaw, names like Hojlund, Leny Yoro, and Zirkzee are all out of action.
