As per sources, Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown might not gear up for the 2024-25 regular season after surgery on his shoulder. The Chiefs HC Andy Reid noted that Brown might be out for months, not weeks from playing.
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown joined the Chiefs early this year after two years with the Arizona Cardinals. He suffered a sternoclavicular injury during the preseason, prompting the team to place him on Injured Reserve for now. This has sparked rumors that he might not make it to the field for the season.
While initially it was thought that Brown would not require any surgery, the recent developments are not very promising. The additional imaging done sometime in the past weeks showed that the shoulder is not healing properly. Brown can possibly play, but playing might make this minor issue a long term problem for the player and the team.
Considering Brown is placed on IR, he has to miss confirmed four games as per the rules. Therefore, the latest he could appear for would be against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. A player placed in the IR has a window of 21 days to attend practices without being on the active roster. However, if he is not activated during this period, Brown might have to spend the complete season on IR.
Although the Chiefs would be missing a key player in Marquise Brown, they have build up the position quite heavily in the off-season. Xavier Worthy drafted 28th overall from Texas Tech has shown great promise, posting almost 100 scrimmage yards and two TDs in the season opener. Furthermore, they added JuJu Smith-Schuster, who won the Super Bowl LVII with the Chiefs late into the off-season as a potential weapon for Patrick Mahomes.
Marquise Brown signed with Kansas City Chiefs for a year. This means that a potential rule out means he misses the chance to prove his grit. Additionally, he might find himself without a team in the near future. Fans on X social media are feeling bad for his helpless situation.

However, the general consensus remains very broad in terms of fan reactions. While many agree that it sucks and they were looking forward to see Brown starting and playing, all are not sold on it.
Damn. This SUCKS?

Some fans chose to highlight how this would benefit Xavier Worthy and how he has proven himself in a week into the game.
It took 1️⃣ week for them to realize they don’t really need him ?

Based off last week, he is not needed.

Meanwhile, some are sad that his injury and IR placement have derailed their fantasy plans.
I just traded Amari cooper, Justice hill, and $5 of faab for him and Javonte ??

The reports suggest he could return from his injury in mid to late December. This timeline would allow him to participate in team practices and regain form before the postseason, which begin in January.
