On the morning of August 7, Real Madrid defeated Chelsea 2-1 in a friendly match in the US.
After two disappointing starts, Endrick was not included in Real Madrid’s squad. The Brazilian striker and Arda Guller were given a rest to recover their fitness.
The match at Bank of America Stadium was played at a high tempo with many back-and-forths. Real Madrid took advantage of the better chances and scored 2 goals in the first half.
In the 19th minute, Brahim Diaz’s effort to finish accidentally became an assist for Lucas Vazquez to comfortably tap into an empty net, opening the score for Real. In the 27th minute, Vinicius passed the ball for Brahim Diaz to escape. The former Milan player dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored to double the gap.
At the end of the first half, Chelsea had a goal to shorten the score thanks to Madueke’s header.
In the second half, Chelsea played better. Mudryk came on and together with Enzo Fernandez continuously disturbed Real Madrid’s defense. However, the Ukrainian player still showed poor finishing ability, missing many opportunities. Chelsea could not score more goals and accepted a 1-2 defeat against Real.
Real Madrid will have a week off before entering the European Super Cup match against Atalanta on August 15. This match also marks the debut of new signing Kylian Mbappe.
