Portugal finished their Euro 2024 warm-up games on a strong note, defeating Ireland 3-0 on Tuesday night.

 

After John O’Shea’s side fell asleep from a corner in the 18th minute, Joao Felix put the hosts ahead with a drilled strike from within the box.

 

Ronaldo lit up the game with a beautiful strike five minutes after the break, and he clinically finished Diogo Jota’s pass ten minutes later as Roberto Martinez’s side headed to the Euros in style.

Ireland was so exhausted that I had almost nothing to do. The custodian faces more difficult challenges in the future.

He continued his great form for United in Portugal. Currently, the 25-year-old is gaining confidence.

Aside from a handful of pressing runs from Adam Idah and Sammie Szmodics, he was not really troubled, as was his keeper teammate.

 

Pepe (7/10):

 

It’s almost unbelievable that this man, at the age of 41, is still such a valuable asset to FC Porto and his country. Was unflappable against the Irish.

 

Goncalo Inacio (7/10):

 

Ireland’s onslaught was kept at bay, and Bruno Fernandes’ exquisite cross in the first half could have resulted in a goal.

 

João Cancelo (6/10):

 

Was not as effective as some of his teammates in dealing with Ireland’s weak attack. Tonight’s performance was not nearly at peak level.

 

Midfielder

Bruno Fernandes (9/10):

 

The Manchester United player may be playing the finest football of his career. His passing is precise, his vision is impressive, and he appears hungry for goals. Although he did not score against Ireland, the midfielder dominated the game and deserved a goal.

 

João Neves (7/10):

 

The 19-year-old did not make as many headlines as Fernandes, but he did his job effectively.

 

João Felix (8/10):

 

During the first half, he appeared sharp and posed a threat. He took his goal with genuine class and will most likely start for Portugal in the Euros based on that performance.

Some argue that the 39-year-old should not start games for Portugal anymore, but this performance demonstrated that the veteran can truly affect opposing defenders. He took his two goals in terrific style and could have had more. A statement outing.

 

Rafael Leao (8/10):

 

Ireland wasn’t sure what to do with the AC Milan star. His pace and cunning gave them a lot of difficulties; he is an excellent possibility for Portugal, but he may need to improve his international goalscoring.

 

Roberto Martinez (Portugal) vs. Croatia (Subs & Manager): Nelson Semedo (7/10).

 

He linked up well with Ronaldo on the right side and was close to scoring himself.

 

Danilo Pereira(7/10):

 

When he replaced Pepe at halftime, he appeared to be at ease in the back.

 

Rubén Neves (8/10):

 

Delivered a fantastic long pass to Ronaldo, who scored his first goal of the night in spectacular fashion. He also showed off his outstanding passing abilities.

 

Diogo Jota (7/10):

 

Played a lovely outside-of-the-foot pass to Ronaldo inside the box, before the 39-year-old scored his second goal with ease.

 

Nuno Mendes (6/10):

 

Didn’t have much of an impact when introduced because the game had already been won.

 

Matheus Nunes (n/a):

 

It wasn’t on for very long.

 

Roberto Martinez (8/10):

 

His Portugal side consistently outmanoeuvred Ireland’s heavy press, and he won the tactical duel with managerial opponent John O’Shea. His five second-half substitutions increased the hosts’ attacking threat, bringing his record as manager to 13 victories and two loses in 15 games.
