Erik ten Hag has indicated that Manchester United are willing to wait until the final hours of the transfer window to complete their business, amid ongoing interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Having already invested £150 million this summer on players like Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, United could potentially spend another £50 million to secure Uruguay international Ugarte.

Ten Hag is content with the club’s new additions so far and is prepared to be patient as the transfer window nears its close next Friday, aiming to make one final acquisition.

“Patience, everyone—wait,” he advised. “Be patient, sit tight, and keep working hard. We will always strive to build the best squad possible. We have a few days left, and we’re always looking to improve. When there’s news, we’ll share it.

“I’m very happy. The new signings show we’re moving in the right direction. We know we need to catch up as a club, but it demonstrates our ambition and the path we want to take. We’ve done good business, brought in very good players, quality players who will add value to our squad.”

United have cleared out several players to make room for the new signings, with Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri being the most recent departure after United reached an agreement with Panathinaikos.

“He’s a very talented player,” said Ten Hag.

“He made great progress last year, but we have a lot of competition in the wide areas. We assess what the squad needs, but every player also requires opportunities for development, and at this moment, we have many players competing for those positions.

“We couldn’t offer him the right opportunities here, but he has tremendous potential and needs regular game time to continue improving. He’ll get that chance at Panathinaikos.”
