Nfl Legend Brett Favre Slammed As ‘hypocritical’ Over Taylor Swift’s Comments About Patrick Mahomes
Taylor Swift’s public Presidential backing of Kamala Harris has drawn widespread criticism, including from an NFL legend, Brett Favre, who previously endorsed former President Donald Trump NFL legend Brett Favre has been accused of hypocrisy after he criticized Taylor Swift for her Presidential endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
The superstar singer, who is dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, announced her endorsement of Harris, stating she intends to vote for the Vice President “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
Swift’s endorsement followed Kelce’s Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany seems endorsing former President Trump on social media. However, after Trump stated that he hates singer Swift, Brittany Mahomes is reported considering changing her mind about supporting the former President.
Quarterback Mahomes addressed politics recently and stated his intention to remain neutral, and Super Bowl champion and three-time NFL MVP Favre used the NFL star’s comments to hit out at Swift on X. “Good take by Mahomes — I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves,” he said.
“If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their favorite pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing,” he continued. However, Favre’s hypocrisy was pointed out by many, after he publicly endorsed Trump during the 2020 Presidential election cycle.
He said at the time: “My Vote is for what makes this country great, freedom of speech and religion, the second amendment, hard-working tax-paying citizens, police and military. In this election, we have freedom of choice, which all should respect. For me and these principles, my vote is for [Donald Trump].”
“Does this include you coming out to say you’re voting for Trump or? It’s no different than Taylor endorsing Harris. Weird take,” one sports fan said.
Another added: “Stop dude. Just stop. You’re essentially doing what you’re saying celebrities shouldn’t be doing. You’re trying to influence people on how to make decisions and choices in their lives. Which is weird. What if the celebrity’s take is part of the research?”
Some did side with Favre’s take, despite his double standard being pointed out. “I don’t think public figures should be getting involved with politics, because people look up to them like they’re so much better than the rest of us & will follow them blindly… People need to have their own opinions on politics , free thinking is going down the drain, scary!” one said on X. Another tweeted: “He’s [Mahomes] a Class act, always. Politics has no place in sports or entertainment. We all have our opinion & that’s fine. Sports & entertainment should be neutral ground where we leave that aside and just enjoy being fans together. If we can do that, maybe there is hope, for us yet.”
