The NFL world has offered several messages of love and support for Colin Kaepernick and his girlfriend, Nessa Diab, after the loss of friend Harry Belafonte.
Belafonte passed away at the age of 96 on Tuesday from congestive heart failure. He is survived by wife Pamela Frank, four children, two stepchildren and eight grandkids.
Aside from a decorated music career, Belafonte was also an influential and prominent civil rights activist. Belafonte had a strong and well-documented relationship with the late Dr. Martin Luther King.

Belafonte was among the most widely-followed music artists in the ’50s. Some of his top hits included “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)”, “Mary’s Boy Child”, and “Jamaica Farewell.”
Kaepernick’s final NFL season took place with the San Francisco 49ers back in 2016. He took the team to two NFC Championship Games and led them to a Super Bowl 47 appearance in the 2012 campaign.
In 2019, Kaepernick and the NFL reached a settlement on his collusion lawsuit, alleging that league owners had conspired to keep him out of the league following his protests against racial injustices and police brutality.
Over the past seven years, Kaepernick has continued to use his platform to spread inspiration and messages of hope for racial equality.
