Manchester United may sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG if Scott McTominay’s move to Napoli goes through.
The 27-year-old has spent his entire club career at Old Trafford, joining the United junior system at the age of five.
As part of United’s Premier League squad, he meets the requirement for ‘homegrown’ players.
However, McTominay is reportedly set to leave United for Napoli after the two clubs reached an agreement following extensive talks, with the Scot negotiating his departure.
Mail Sport understands Napoli will pay a transfer fee of around £26 million for McTominay, who has appeared as a substitute in all three of United’s games this season.
Scott McTominay is likely to quit Manchester United after more than 20 years with the club.
McTominay, a 27-year-old midfielder, has played over 250 appearances for United since his debut in 2017.
According to The Athletic, the deal also includes a sell-on clause, which allows United to receive a portion of McTominay’s next transfer fee if he is sold by Napoli.
McTominay last played for United on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to Brighton. Billy Gilmour, a fellow Scotland midfielder, also played in the game.
Napoli expressed interest in Gilmour this summer, but McTominay is now their top midfield target.
Napoli finished tenth in Serie A last season, after winning the title the previous season.
They’ve since signed Leonardo Spinazzola, Rafa Marin, Alessandro Buongiorno, and David Neres.
Romelu Lukaku, a Chelsea striker, is also reportedly close to joining Naples.

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, 31, is also close to finalizing a deal with Napoli this summer.
Selling McTominay should allow United to free up space and finances for their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte has not played in either of PSG’s opening two games of the new Ligue 1 season, having said that he wishes to join United.
