The Red Devils captain created a magical moment just 6 minutes before the end of the first half, to help MU lead city rival Man City 2-0 in the 2024 FA Cup final .
In the 39th minute, Alejandro Garnacho passed the ball simply to Fernandes, who had a huge space on the edge of the penalty area. And with a delicate touch, the Portuguese delivered a no-look backpass to Mainoo. The 19-year-old midfielder was in an empty position when Kyle Walker had not yet retreated. And he easily defeated goalkeeper Ortega in the face-off.
Wayne Rooney, commentator for the BBC, considered Man United’s second goal an “unbelievable goal”. He said: “That pass from Bruno Fernandes was amazing. There are not many football players in the world who can make that pass.”
Even Roy Keane, who is known for being difficult, was full of praise. The Irishman added: “A lot of players will not be able to pass to a teammate in a good position in this situation. But Bruno did it. He had the perfect touch to create an extremely accurate pass.”
