Man United has been offered to borrow Manuel Ugarte from PSG with the option to buy him, but the price being asked is still too high.
United wants £42 million for the Uruguayan player, while PSG wants £51 million.
Ugarte did not play in PSG’s first game of the Ligue 1 season last Friday against Le Havre because of the current transfer rumors.
However, PSG is still willing to sell Ugarte for £51 million, the same amount they paid Sporting to sign him in July of last year. They are not willing to lower this price.
France’s top team won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France last season, and Ugarte played in 37 of those games.
He had played 85 times for Sporting over two years. Before that, he started his career in Portuguese clubs by playing for Famalicao.
The United States has also played Ugarte 22 times at the senior level.
The news comes at a time when Napoli want to loan Scott McTominay, but United will only agree to sell him.
Ugarte would be a straight boost if the Scot were to leave this summer.
Fulham’s offer of £20 million was turned down earlier this month.
The deal for McTominay with United only has one year left, but the club can choose to extend it for another year.
The 27-year-old came up through United’s youth program and has played over 250 times for the team since his start in April 2017.
Since that deal, the Cottagers have become interested again, but they will now pay £25 million to sign Burnley’s Sander Berge.
