Luis Suarez continues to play the hero for Inter Miami while Messi is sidelined with an injury.
Inter Miami visited Chicago Fire as part of Matchday 27 of Major League Soccer (MLS). Tata Martino’s squad has secured a spot in the playoffs, but the Argentine coach still fielded the strongest lineup possible.
Suarez continued to shine.
The home team showed why they are near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, as Inter Miami dominated from the start. After missing a few chances, the visitors finally opened the scoring. The goal came from Chicago Fire’s own defender, Salquist. Suarez’s difficult shot forced the Chicago Fire goalkeeper to mishandle the ball, which then deflected off Salquist and into the net.
After conceding the goal, the home team pushed forward to attack but failed to find an equalizer in the first half. The second half began with a goal from Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker smartly positioned himself, broke the offside trap, and beat the opposing goalkeeper with a shot to the near post.
Chicago Fire continued to push forward in search of a goal but ended up conceding another one. Busquets took a free-kick aimed at the far post, Alba received the ball, and passed it across for Suarez to score his second goal of the match.
Leading by a significant margin, Inter Miami relaxed and paid the price in the 82nd minute. Acosta made a good pass for Koutsias, who fired the ball into the net. Chicago Fire didn’t give up on trying to score again.
Unfortunately for them, they conceded yet another goal. Taylor scored for Inter Miami after a cross from Campana. In the end, Inter Miami secured a resounding 4-1 victory at Chicago Fire’s stadium, continuing to lead the Western Conference standings.
