With the iPhone 16 lineup set to launch, one of the most exciting features of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models is their improved 5G speeds, thanks to a new modem upgrade. Preorders are available starting tomorrow, and the phones will be in stores on September 20, offering significant performance improvements over previous models.
Recent tests by SpeedSmart reveal that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max show 5G download speeds up to 26.4% faster compared to the iPhone 15 series. T-Mobile showcased the highest speed increases, with download speeds exceeding 400Mbps, while Verizon followed closely. AT&T, although slightly behind, still showed a solid performance at 270Mbps. Upload speeds also improved, though less dramatically, consistently reaching above 30Mbps on all networks, which will benefit users when making video calls or transferring files.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem, which enhances both speed and efficiency. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to use the older Snapdragon X70 modem, seen in the 2023 models.
In addition to the 5G improvements, all iPhone 16 models, including the Pro variants, have been upgraded to support Wi-Fi 7. While this won’t directly increase your broadband speed, it allows you to get closer to your router’s maximum performance, provided you’re using a Wi-Fi 7-compatible router.
These updates, alongside other small but notable enhancements like faster charging speeds, make the iPhone 16 Pro models an attractive upgrade for users looking for the best in performance and connectivity.
