The greatness of Patrick Mahomes continues to rise despite a string of average performances this season. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback etched his name into the history books once again as he overtook Tom Brady and Roger Staubach for the most victories by a quarterback in their first 100 starts.

Patrick Mahomes‘ win against the Atlanta Falcons was the 77th of his career. The previous record was held by Brady and Staubach who were tied for the number 1 position with 76 wins apiece. With this record, the quarterback continues to inch closer to reaching the summit of NFL greatness upon which Tom Brady stands by himself.

Since starting for the Chiefs in 2018, Patrick Mahomes came out of the gates swinging. He had a phenomenal rookie season wherein he led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record.

Since that point, Kansas City has continued to win double-digit games in the regular season. The team’s 11 wins in the regular season last year were the lowest since Mahomes took over.

Mahomes is no stranger to breaking records. He became the all-time Chiefs’ leader in passing yards with 28.866 yards and counting. He is just one of three quarterbacks to win three or more Super Bowls.

Sunday’s game against the Falcons was his 99th NFL start, which means he has one more game to go and has a chance to increase his win record to 78 when the Chiefs take on the Chargers on Monday.

Another record that Patrick Mahomes broke against the Falcons was for the most touchdown passes thrown by a quarterback in their first 100 regular season starts.

The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to a 3-0 start, and that is despite Patrick Mahomes struggling. This has to be concerning for opposing teams as the reigning Super Bowl champions are just going to get better. Amongst a string of concerns for the Chiefs are the lack of production from Travis Kelce, who is yet to make a mark on the offense and Mahomes, missing out on opportunities to throw to his wide receivers.

Despite breaking yet another record, Mahomes acknowledged he needs to get better following Sunday’s game.

We haven't played good, I mean, really, all three games. We've been able to win, (and) that speaks to the character of the team, the grit, how we've been in these situations before. But I'll speak- especially offensively and me, myself, I feel like I haven't played very well.

Mahomes has 659 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions so far this season. His QBR is a concerning 51.2. The Chiefs are doing just enough to win, which has worked so far, but as their schedule gets tougher in the coming weeks, the team will need to rectify all their errors if they intend to get back to the Super Bowl this season.
