Spain and England both came from behind in the semi-finals, but came back to beat France and the Netherlands 2-1, respectively. The two teams will meet in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, at 2am on Monday, July 15, Hanoi time.

Spain have won all six of their Euro 2024 matches, scoring 13 goals and conceding just three. Luis de la Fuente’s side have beaten a number of FIFA Top 10 teams, including Croatia, Italy, Germany and France, to reach their first major final since 2012.
England have struggled on the road to the final, winning three, drawing three, scoring seven and conceding four. Gareth Southgate’s side have come from behind in all three knockout matches, but have come back to reach their second successive Euro final.
In the previous edition three years ago, England lost to Italy on penalties in the final. Therefore, the “Three Lions” are still waiting for their first Euro championship, just as captain Harry Kane is waiting for his first title in his career. Meanwhile, Spain is aiming for a record fourth European championship, surpassing Germany’s achievement.
The history of the head-to-head matches is in England’s favour, as they have never lost to Spain at the Euros. England won both legs of the quarter-finals in 1968 and the group stage in 1980, before eliminating Spain on penalties in the quarter-finals in 1996. In their most recent clash in the UEFA Nations League group stage in October 2018, England also won 3-2 in Seville.
However, according to the Opta supercomputer , Spain are more likely to win Euro 2024, with a probability of 57%, compared to England’s 43%. This index is based mainly on the performances of both teams since the start of the tournament.
According to FIFA rankings, England is ranked fifth in the world, three places above Spain. According to the Elo coefficient based on the results of head-to-head matches between teams, Spain is ranked second in the world, just behind Argentina, while the “Three Lions” are ranked seventh. That shows that the final match will be unpredictable.
The Olympic Games will also see a host of top stars go head-to-head. Spain have midfielder Rodri, while England have strikers Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden. Two teenagers are also expected to start in the final, 17-year-old striker Lamine Yamal and 19-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The result could therefore have implications for individual awards such as the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Boy.
