The Skills Challenge had a lot to offer today. Pure comedy. Firstly, we had the Wemby-CP3 getting disqualified with their supposedly witty play. And then, we had Draymond Green and Moses Moody take the court. We all know the 4x NBA Champ has possessed insane game awareness and play-making ability that has served immeasurably for the Warriors. However, it certainly didn’t seem to reflect on the All-Star weekend.
As the host city, the Warriors had sent out Moody and Green. At face value, it’s a perfect blend of young legs and experience. This challenge requires the baller to make precise passing skills, dribbling, free throw shooting, layups, and three-pointers. Ahead of the challenge, Green said, “I just really wanted to be a part of it… I figured if I’m ever going to do it again, what better place than to do it at home.”
However, seconds into the first round, the 4x All-Star must have realized that he had walked into trouble. While they entered the final round, they couldn’t compete against the Cavs’ duo, Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland. No doubt, a team with two All-Stars has more odds of winning the challenge and they secured victory too.
Above all, he promised to redeem it at the playoff, as per Marc Spears. Nevertheless, Green’s guilt-filled speech didn’t melt fans’ hearts as they bombarded the timeline with trolls. Let’s look at some of the reactions.
Social Media erupts as Draymond Green flunks in Skills Challenge
Draymond Green isn’t someone new to trolls. Fans always had their eyes on him, waiting for a lapse. Even though DrayMagic has won 4 rings, he isn’t perfect. Most importantly, he has his controversial moments on the court, engaging in ugly violent acts. So, Green has always been the face of NBA trolls. Tonight was no different. Looking at the star’s performance, a fan decided to change the name of the challenge and it was, “No Skills challenge 😭😭😭“
The 34-year-old did struggle on all fronts of the challenge. Being one of the best passers in the league, he even struggled with the passing challenge. Moving on, this fan turned to history to troll the star forward. They shared the video of Donovan Mitchell’s hilarious reaction throwing skills and wrote, “Donovan Mitchell was all of us when Draymond Green choked away another Finals to the Cavs#LetEmKnow:
It’s a fact that the Warriors engaged in a historic choke job when they threw away a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals against the Cavs in 2016. It was a time when the entire world was against the Warriors and its fans, as they were building their dynasty. Anyway, the Dubs managed to win three of their other Finals match-ups against the Cavs.
This fan got a little creative. Last time, the NBA world criticized the league’s Celebrity All-Star effort, claiming that it was bold. Many demanded the reasons behind deploying Druski and Kai Cenat, who clearly struggled to play. However, this fan utilized Druski’s video from last night to troll Draymond. Genius work.
On the other hand, this fan picked up Green’s post-performance speech where he assured to redeem himself in the playoffs. The fan wrote, “They gotta make the playoffs first 🤣🤣.” Currently in the 10th seed and with the inclusion of Jimmy Butler, the Warriors definitely have the legs to reach the postseason. Anyway, let’s watch out. What if this fan was right?
This Dubs fan wasn’t impressed with the team’s lineup for the Saturday night event. They wrote, “We had “moses moody, Draymond Green, and Buddy Hield” represent us on Saturday night Allstar competition 💔💔 We fell off man.” While Moody and Green flunked badly, Buddy Hield did make an impressive first-round performance in a 3-point challenge, dropping 31 points and tying Stephen Curry’s record. However, in the championship round, he fell pretty bad dropping just 23 points, losing the challenge with just one point. In short, it was a tough day for the Dubs. What do you think?
