It was a weird but very helpful announcement that technically has not been made official, but everyone knows it will happen. The Kansas City Chiefs and offensive lineman Creed Humphrey agreed to a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid center in the NFL.

He will be receiving a four-year, $72 million extension, of which $50 million is guaranteed. Now Patrick Mahomes has someone he can trust for many years, and he can rely on as a partner in the offensive game plan.

The Oklahoma graduate was scheduled to earn $4.8 million in 2024, the final season of his rookie deal. Now he will have an annual average of $18 million per season. He has become a very endurable player for the team as he has been playing pretty much every game.

A lineman for long time

Creed Humphrey has started all 51 regular season games he has played in since his rookie campaign and he was a high-profile player since he was young. In 2021 he finished third in the voting for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Two years later he was invited to the Pro Bowl and received his first second-team All-Pro nomination, something that was recognized around the league because of his age and high level.

Last year he was chosen for the NFL Pro Bowl for the second time in his career. The 25-year-old center has played more than 97 percent of the Kansas City offense’s snaps.
