It was reported on Sunday evening by ESPN’s Shams Charania that the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings had agreed to a blockbuster trade that includes De’Aaron Fox and Zach LaVine.

Per Charania, this three-team trade sends Fox to San Antonio, LaVine to Sacramento and Zach Collins, Tre Jones and Kevin Huerter to Chicago. Draft compensation is also involved in this deal, with Sacramento landing two first-round picks and three second round picks, while Chicago receives its own 2025 pick via San Antonio.

This trade also takes one of the Golden State Warriors’ top targets off the board, as it was reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic on Jan. 29 that LaVine “had prompted some intrigue” among key organizational members in San Francisco.

In that same article from Slater, it was reported that LaVine had seemingly surpassed Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler on Golden State’s list of preferred trade targets. With the former UCLA guard on his way to Sacramento, the Warriors have reportedly decided to place Butler back on their radar.

It was reported by The Athletic on Jan. 4 that prominent members of Golden State’s organization had not pushed for a Butler trade, with additional reports detailing potential concern from the Warriors about the locker room fit. A lot has changed since then, including Sunday’s blockbuster deal between Chicago, San Antonio and Sacramento.

Amid this latest development, Golden State has reportedly placed Butler back on its radar, in addition to Bulls center Nikola Vucevic.
