Alex Bregman isn’t the only one in his family starting a new chapter as he begins his Red Sox tenure.
Bregman revealed his wife, Reagan, had her own reason for wanting Boston.
“My wife is going to love Boston, as well,” Bregman told reporters Sunday, as seen on NESN. “She was super involved in the process and she is looking forward to starting her first semester at Harvard Executive Business School this year, as well.”
Red Sox president Sam Kennedy responded, “That’s awesome,” in the moment.
Reagan being accepted to Harvard was a nugget of information some inside the Red Sox organization “had no idea about,” according to WEEI’s Rob Bradford. She was accepted into the entrepreneurial business program just a few days before the two-time World Series champion agreed to join the Red Sox, Bradford wrote.
The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey noted how Reagan, who’s pregnant and due at the end of April, will be required to be on campus for several weeks.
It’s fair to believe the opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious universities in the country solidified Boston as the top contender for the Bregman family. There’s something to be said about the stars aligning in such a scenario.
Before Reagan’s acceptance came to fruition, though, the two-time MLB All-Star saw the opportunity to win in Boston, play for a fanbase that expects to win and play with a mix of veteran and young teammates.
Those aspects attracted Bregman to the Red Sox, and Boston might’ve done the rest.
