Nicki Minaj disappointed fans across the globe with her latest Instagram announcement – the release date for her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2, has been pushed back to November.
‘Due to some really exciting news that I’ll share with you guys at a later time, I’ve shifted the album date just a tad bit,’ the rapper, 40, announced on her page.
Although Pink Friday 2 won’t debut until November 17, the Trinidadian-born rapper assured her followers that it would be, ‘worth the wait.’
Clad in a bubble-gum pink wink and matching sky-high heels, Nicki stared straight ahead in the photo that she used for her Pink Friday 2 news.
The singer and songwriter made sure to note that the image was not going to be used as the cover art for Pink Friday 2.
Nicki’s last full studio album, Queen, was released in 2018, with the Anaconda singer releasing her first Greatest Hits album in 2022.
Pink Friday 2 is a reference to her debut album, Pink Friday, which was released in 2010.
The image Nicki posted announcing the album delay was actually an outfit the Starships singer wore for her first album cover.
Now known as the greatest female rapper of all time, according to Billboard, Nicki promised fans that she’d share the cover art for her upcoming album at a later date.
Her first single from Pink Friday 2, Super Freaky Girl, already debuted on the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 back in 2022.
While she’s best known for her singing and rapping skills, the mother of one also has acting experience.
She voiced animated characters in the children’s films Ice Age: Continental Drift and The Angry Birds Movie 2. Nicki also had a supporting role in the Cameron Diaz-led revenge rom-com, The Other Woman, in 2014.
More recently, Nicki collaborated with Ice Spice and Aqua for their newest single, Barbie World, a new spin on the famous Barbie Girl track for the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie.
The multitasking mom teased that Pink Friday 2 would be, as she put it on Twitter back in May, a ‘chef’s kiss’ of an album.
She was responding to a fan’s tweet about how they found the cover shoot for Pink Friday to be ‘legendary.’
‘Imagine being a fashion icon before your debut album,’ Nicki wrote, expressing her gratitude for her fans and her success.
‘Imagine performing w|Ye & Jay in Yankee Stadium, no album out, imagine Drake, Eminem, Rihanna, Ye, WillIAm, & Natasha Bedingfield on your FIRST ALBUM,’ she added.
In typical Nicki fashion, the Red Ruby Da Sleaze rapper added a, ‘bwahahaha I have to laugh. Blessings & gratitude to my supporters.’
