In her statement, Cassie said that she decided to stand up to her powerful boyfriend so that other women who are being abused can have the courage to fight back.

“After years of silence and living in the dark, I am finally ready to tell my story. I am speaking for myself and for other women who suffer violence and sexual abuse in their relationships.”

In May 2024, CNN published a clip of the rapper assaulting his ex-girlfriend at a hotel. The surveillance footage was compiled and edited from multiple angles and was filmed on March 5, 2016. The incident took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN verified the location based on previously public photos of the hotel’s interior. This is considered the most compelling evidence that Diddy brutally abused Cassie.
