ENDLESS LOOP: Bruno Fernandes Controversially Sent Off for Second Consecutive Game in Man United’s Dramatic Draw at Porto.TĐ

BRUNO FERNANDES was controversially sent off for the second Manchester United game in a row.

The Red Devils captain was booked again for a high boot against Porto.

Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund took advantage of Diogo Costa’s blunders to put United ahead by two goals in Portugal’s second city.

But Porto fought back with a goal from Pepe and an equaliser from summer Chelsea target Samu Omorodion before halftime.

Omorodion then struck again to put the hosts ahead before Fernandes’ moment of craziness.

The United captain, who previously played for Porto’s close rivals Sporting, entered the game late, challenging Nehuen Perez for a high ball.

The Argentine then went to the ground, clutching his face, and the referee issued a second yellow card.

However, replays revealed that Fernandes’ boot did not make contact with the Argentine’s head, and his leg just touched Perez’s arm.

Fortunately, Fernandes’ predecessor as Manchester United captain was on hand to save manager Erik ten Hag from complete humiliation.

In stoppage time, when all hope seemed lost, replacement Harry Maguire sprang to head in a corner kick.

Fernandes’ second red card in five days came against Porto, both in contentious circumstances.

On Sunday, he was sent off for a studs-up lunge on James Maddison in a 3-0 loss to Tottenham.

However, his red card was reversed as film revealed that he had slipped into the tackle.

The FA’s ruling means he’ll be eligible for Sunday’s play at Aston Villa.

However, he will not be granted a reprieve for tonight’s red card, as UEFA rules state that a second booking may only be reversed in circumstances of mistaken identity.

That means he will miss United’s next Europa League match against former manager Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Harry Maguire’s stoppage time header saved a point for Manchester United, despite the presence of a hankook ad in the background. The previous captain, Bruno Fernandes, wheeled away in jubilation.
