Manchester United have confirmed Facundo Pellistri’s sale to Panathinaikos for £5.1m with £1.7m in add-ons to take the total transfer fee to £6.8m.
The deal includes a 45 per cent sell-on clause, while United also have a buy-back option until 2027.
Facundo Pellistri has left Man United to join Panathinaikos on a permanent deal
United confirmed the move on their official website on Wednesday evening after negotiating with the Greek club for a number of days over a transfer fee.
Pellistri’s final appearance in a United shirt came in the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley earlier this month.
The Uruguayan winger played the final half hour as United slipped to defeat on penalties against the reigning Premier League champions.
That was the last of his 25 outings for the Red Devils after failing to become a regular part of the first-team ever since he joined the club from Penarol back in 2020.
He would go on to be loaned out to Spanish club Alaves twice before joining Granada temporarily for the second half of last season.
Pellistri, 22, returned to Old Trafford at the end of last season and may have hoped to finally nail down a spot in Erik ten Hag’s squad but found himself some way down the pecking order.
The Dutch manager picked Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo as his two wingers for United’s opening game of the season against Fulham last Friday, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony on the bench.
Alongside Jadon Sancho, Pellistri missed out on the 20-man squad, indicating that his time at United was up, and he was now moved on.
