England won 2-0 against Finland thanks to a double from Harry Kane, while Germany drew 2-2 with the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League group stage match on the morning of September 11.
Kane broke the deadlock in the 57th minute after England capitalised on a defensive error by Finland. Trent Alexander-Arnold won the ball and made a delicate through ball before Kane fired past goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky to give the Three Lions a 1-0 lead.
In the 76th minute, the Bayern Munich striker continued to put his name on the scoreboard, completing a double to help England win 2-0. This was Kane’s 68th goal for the “Three Lions” and he became the third player to score in his 100th match for the England team after Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton.
With this victory, coach Lee Carsley’s team still ranks second in Group 2 League B UEFA Nations League with 6 points, behind Greece due to inferior goal difference.
Germany remain top of Group 3 of League A of the UEFA Nations League after drawing 2-2 with the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The home team took the lead through Tijjani Reijnders in the 2nd minute.
Having the advantage of leading the score, the home team played confidently and created many dangerous situations towards Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s goal but were all denied by the German goalkeeper.
The visitors quickly regained control of the game and scored two goals before the end of the first half thanks to Deniz Undav in the 38th minute and Joshua Kimmich in the 45+3rd minute. The two teams entered the break with a 2-1 advantage for Germany.
In the second half, Denzel Dumfries equalized for the Dutch players in the 50th minute after a close-range shot. Both teams then created many opportunities towards the opponent’s goal but could not take advantage of them.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw and coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team still leads Group 3 League A UEFA Nations League with 4 points, the team behind is the Netherlands with the same number of points but a worse goal difference.
Germany will travel to Bosnia’s Bilino Polje Stadium at 1:45 a.m. on October 12. Meanwhile, the Netherlands will face Hungary at Puskas Arana Park (Budapest, Hungary).
