As the transfer deadline approached late Friday night and into early Saturday morning, the deal for Jadon Sancho’s move from Manchester United to Chelsea was nearing completion

Manchester United and Chelsea have been granted an additional two hours to finalize the details, as the transaction document was submitted just before the 11 o’clock deadline.

Sancho, now 24, will spend the rest of the season on loan at Chelsea, with the club obligated to make the move permanent next season for a fee between £20 million and £25 million, depending on their league performance.

Although there is no loan fee, Chelsea will cover most of Sancho’s £250,000 weekly salary for the season.

This also means that Sancho’s last contribution for United was his missed penalty in the Community Shield shootout against Manchester City at Wembley, which Ederson saved.
