Mike Tyson versus Tyson Fury would be an intriguing fight between two heavyweights at very different ends of the spectrum.

Heavyweights in the modern era have tended to be of the super variety, much more so than most of their counterparts of the last century.

Fury is one of the tallest men to ever win a world title and is a fighter with a wide range of skills, technical ability, solid defence and deft footwork for someone of his size.

The man he is named after is one of the shortest men to ever lift a heavyweight belt. He earned his first world title at just 20 years old on a run in which he knocked out his first 19 opponents, all in six rounds. He was often said to be so fearsome and intimidating that he had won many fights before he even stepped into the ring.

Speaking to The Business Excellence Channel, former world champion Frank Bruno said he believes “Iron Mike,” a former opponent of his in 1989, would have what it takes to beat his compatriot in a fantasy fight.

“Mike Tyson, when he was 19 or 20, was a dangerous individual. They were both in their prime, sorry, Mike Tyson.

I like Tyson Fury, I would give him a fight here and there, but Mike Tyson, at 20, 21 or 22, was a dangerous human being. But it’s not going to be easy for little Tyson because the big guy would have to use his weight. But I think Mike Tyson’s combinations would be a bit fast for him.

Fury will face Oleksandr Usyk again in December, having lost to him for the first time in May, while Tyson will return to the ring to face Jake Paul in November despite not having fought professionally for 19 years.
