The 26-year-old two-time NFL Pro Bowler signed with the Green Bay Packers in the offseason after playing his first five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
After a stellar 2022 campaign which saw him receive his first All-Pro selection, Jacobs suffered his worst season leading up to his free-agent year.
The Alabama product had numerous teams that were interested in signing him, including the Chiefs, Packers, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins.
In an interview with The Athletic, Jacobs revealed that joining Patrick Mahomes and the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs was not a possibility – simply due to his history with the Kansas City and how high-powered they are.
“They were trying to get me hard,” he said to the publication.
“But there was no way I was going there.
“I feel like once you are rivals with somebody, you have a genuine hate for them. I couldn’t see myself in that color.
“And besides, I never wanted to be the guy that joined the dominant team.
“I want to be the guy that beats the dominant team.”
Jacobs also revealed that the Giants gave him an offer between $3 million and $4 million more than the one he took from the Packers.
He signed a four-year, $48 million deal with Green Bay.
But Jacobs turned down the Giants due to New York’s taxes, lifestyle, media, and the artificial turf at MetLife Stadium.
He gave the Raiders a chance to match the Packers’ contract, but Las Vegas didn’t want to do the same deal.
“I really didn’t want to up and move,” Jacobs said. “But I could tell that s**t was over with.”
The 26-year-old shared that “trust was missing” from the Raiders after they didn’t offer him a contract after his 1,653 rushing yard season in 2022.
Las Vegas used the franchise tag on Jacobs which led to him skipping most of last year’s training camp and asking for a trade.
He then accepted a one-year deal worth $11.8 million with $200,00 in potential incentives.
Jacobs will be joining a Packers squad that went to the playoffs last year.
Led by Jordan Love, Green Bay will look to Jacobs in the running back room as he’ll fill the hole left by Aaron Jones.
The Packers will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL’s first-ever game in Brazil on Friday.
