Held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, the bout was a rematch of their June 2023 clash, which ended with a sixth-round disqualification and a chaotic brawl between the two teams that spilled outside the ring and into the backstage area.
This time, the fight was quieter as Mayweather largely danced around and landed precise but minimal strikes until the bout ended in the eighth round. Despite Mayweather’s clear dominance, no official winner was declared as the match was an exhibition.
The most notable incident of the night occurred in the second round when Mayweather took drastic action against the referee. Midway through the round, the referee warned Mayweather for hitting Gotti in the back of the head. Mayweather, disagreeing with the call, expressed his frustration by telling the referee to leave the ring. As tensions grew, the referee exited the ring and was replaced by a substitute who officiated the rest of the fight.
