MU transfers: After completing two deals for Mathijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, Man United is planning to bring in a third star from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer market of 2024, stealing Real Madrid’s hand.
Since the end of the 2023/24 season, Bayern Munich has convinced Alphonso Davies to extend his contract when there are only 12 months left on his contract. However, the Canadian defender has shown little interest and is determined to leave. He is even willing to wait until the summer of 2025 and leave on a free transfer.
Having failed to extend his contract, Bayern have decided to try to sell Alphonso Davies in the summer of 2024 to avoid losing the defender for free. The Bavarians want to collect at least 40 million euros, but as the summer transfer window is slowly counting down, the former Bundesliga champions are said to be ready to negotiate with offers of 30 million euros or more.
In the most recent contract extension offer, Bayern offered a salary of 14 million euros plus 3 million euros in bonuses, but Davies refused. Although the gap to the 20 million euros that Davies wanted was not too far, the defender still decided to leave.
Honorary president Uli Hoeness affirmed: “We have made it very clear to Alphonso Davies that if he does not renew, we will let the contract expire. He will not receive any more money. Everything will be resolved definitively.”
The defender wants to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with Los Blancos unwilling to pay a large sum to bring him back immediately. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, MU is likely to raise the issue with Bayern about Davies’ case.
Man United need another left-back as Luke Shaw is constantly injured and Malacia is out for a long time with no return date. Bayern have just sold Mazraoui and De Ligt to MU, and the Red Devils want to take advantage of this good relationship to recruit the Canadian star. On the other hand, Bayern are also ready to sit at the negotiating table as they do not want to lose Davies for free next summer.
