Man Utd came from behind to defeat Bestis in 15 minutes
Man Utd are showing impressive attacking ability during their tour in the US when the Manchester team easily penetrated Betis’ net in just 15 minutes. The two teams played a friendly match this morning (August 1) at Snapdragon Stadium (USA).
Coach Ten Hag could not use Hojlund and Yoro in the match against Betis because the players were not really fit enough to play. The Dutch strategist pushed Rashford to play as a center forward, supporting him with Eriken, Sancho and Diallo.
Man Utd took the initiative to attack after the opening whistle. In the 5th minute, the English team made Betis’ net shake but Sancho’s goal was disallowed due to offside.
In the 15th minute, Betis players continuously penetrated the left wing of Man Utd. The lack of coordination between goalkeeper Heaton and the defenders created an opportunity for Losada to easily score from a close-range shot. The first credit for the goal must go to Rodri with his pass to his teammate.
However, Betis’ advantage did not last long. In the 17th minute, Diallo was pulled down in the Betis penalty area, the referee awarded Man Utd a penalty. Rashford successfully executed the 11m kick, bringing the equalizer 1-1 for the “Red Devils”.
Man Utd created good attacking pressure. In the 24th minute, Diallo received a pass from the left, he comfortably shot from the right in the Betis penalty area, the ball went so hard that goalkeeper Silva could not block it.
Man Utd’s excellent play quickly brought the team a third goal. In the 31st minute, Rashford blocked the ball well from a corner kick for Casemiro to connect and send the ball into the near corner to score the third goal for Man Utd.
After scoring three goals, Man Utd started to slow down. After the break, coach Ten Hag only made 2 substitutions, instead of 9-10 like in recent friendly matches.
Betis rose strongly after the break, the Spanish team controlled the ball better than Man Utd, attacking more. In the 61st minute, Roca crossed the ball for Cardoso to head the ball into the net from the center of the penalty area, reducing the score to 1-2.
After conceding the 7th goal, Ten Hag decided to change 7 positions. This change made Man Utd even more inferior to Betis, however the Spanish team did not know how to take advantage of the opportunities created, they shot a lot but often kicked the ball out. Unable to score more goals, Betis sadly accepted defeat.
