Endrick debuts in Real Madrid’s defeat
On the morning of August 1, the 18-year-old rookie debuted in a friendly match where Real Madrid lost 0-1 to AC Milan.
Just days after his Real Madrid debut, Endrick was picked by coach Carlo Ancelotti to start against Milan. Alongside the young Brazilian in attack were Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz. Real’s other new signing, Kylian Mbappe, was not registered.
The first half was quite slow. Neither team created many chances. In the first 45 minutes, the fans only witnessed 3 shots, 2 of which belonged to Milan and neither of which posed any problems for the goalkeeper.
At the beginning of the second half, Endrick was substituted without making an impact. After a series of personnel changes, Real Madrid played awkwardly and conceded a goal in the 58th minute. Mattia Liberali took advantage of a Real player losing the ball to pass to Samuel Chukwueze, opening the score.
After taking the advantage, Milan played with great excitement. In the 63rd minute, the Serie A representative almost doubled the gap, after Malick Thiaw’s header hit the crossbar.
In the last 20 minutes, Real increased the speed of the ball. However, Ancelotti’s team could not take advantage of the opportunity to equalize. In the 70th minute, Real players asked for a penalty but the referee determined that the Milan defender had his hand close to his body. In the 83rd and 86th minutes, the reigning Champions League champions had two chances to shoot just 10 meters from the goal but Alvaro Rodriguez missed both.
The match in Chicago ended with a victory for Milan. On August 4 and 7, Real will face Barcelona and Chelsea respectively. On August 15, the Royal team will face Atalanta in the European Super Cup. This is also the match where Mbappe will debut for his new team.
