Rapper Nicki Minaj reportedly refused to continue a UK interview until the host cleared out the smell of one of the nation’s most popular food dishes from the room.

During interview this week on Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby, Chris dished on an outrageous encounter he had a few years ago with the famous Anaconda singer. The UK host shared that Nicki once halted their interview together – after arriving late – and wouldn’t enter the room until the smell of “chips and beans” were gone.

Chris explained: “I was waiting to interview Nicki Minaj, and she kept running late. They kept delaying it more and more. So I got a bit hungry, darted downstairs to the canteen that was there for some chips and bean.”

He continued: “I was just enjoying my chips and beans, I was in the moment, when a member of Nicki Minaj’s team approached me, questioned what I was up to – because she thought it was a bit weird that I was eating chips and beans – then asked me to leave.”

He went on to add that he was “amazed” by the bizarre request. And while many Americans aren’t wouldn’t normally eat chips, or fries, smothered in beans for lunch – this is a very traditional meal in the UK where the interview was held. Chris said: “I was then told that the interview wouldn’t begin until the smell of chips and beans was removed from the room.”‌

And while many listeners found the story appalling and rude, the co-host Jordan laughed and responded: “Brilliant!” to which her fellow co-host Sian giggled and chimed in: “Stop it! No way!”” And Chris continued: “They had to bring in candles and sprays and that, and I wasn’t allowed in until that was properly sorted.”

A clip of Chris’ story on Capital Breakfast has since gained traction on TikTok with fans taking to the comments sharing their stunned reactions to the famous celebrities’ demanding request. One viewer commented: “This is why I hate celebrities.” Another replied: “Let the man eat.” And a third wrote: “I’d be eating chips and beans with him.”

In response to the anecdote another person questioned: “Who on Earth does she think she is?” To which a fan replied: “The queen of rap.” And they fired back: “You could be the Queen of England and she wouldn’t behave like that! Appalling behaviour.”
