Nicki Minaj has long been considered the queen of rap. But since Cardi B took the music scene by storm with “Bodak Yellow” last summer, fans have started to compare and rumor that the two female rappers have not really “liked” each other since their collaboration with Migos in late 2017 called “MotorSport” .

The feud and rivalry between the two female rappers has been rumored for a long time, although both have repeatedly denied it. Recently, Cardi also mentioned it again in an interview before the release of her album “Invasion of Privacy” and affirmed that the feud between her and her senior Nicki was just “made by the internet” and not something she was concerned about. However, in this interview, Nicki revealed that although the relationship between the two can be considered okay now, there were actually some misunderstandings and conflicts between the two in the past.

It all started with a song they did with Migos called “MotorSport .” As previously reported, the song was originally just a collaboration between Quavo (a member of Migos) and Nicki. After the rest of Migos were added, Quavo texted Nicki and asked if Cardi could be on the song, and Nicki agreed: “It was originally just me and Quavo on that song, no one else. Then he called me and asked if we should get Cardi on, and I was like, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’ Migos wasn’t even on the song originally. It was just Quavo.”

However, Nicki later criticized Cardi’s lack of respect for her in her “MotorSport” interviews. The “Anaconda” singer shared: “The only thing from Cardi that really, really, really hurt me was the first interview she did after “MotorSport” came out. I remember when I first started singing and getting famous, if a female artist sang with me, I would always praise them and thank them. The first interview she did really upset me because she was so serious and angry. And the only thing she said was, ‘I didn’t hear that part, she changed her part.’ I was so surprised and wondered what was going on.”

The interview Nicki referenced was Cardi’s with Capital Xtra this past November, in which Cardi told the host: “When I heard the song, her verse wasn’t finished yet. It wasn’t the verse that you hear now. And Quavo told me to come on the song, and I just felt like it was the perfect opportunity for me to be a part of such a big project because they’re all big names, and I was just starting out.”

Cardi’s comments may be true, but it has inadvertently led fans to think that Nicki changed her verse after hearing Cardi’s verse, and decided to change it to make her verse better. Nicki shared that she later contacted Quavo and asked him to tell the truth to defend herself, but unfortunately the result was not as expected: “I really like Quavo. At that time, I went on Twitter and explained how ‘Motorsport’ was made, and everyone thought I was lying. So I texted Quavo: ‘Hey, can you support me on this? He texted me and said, ‘I would go on Twitter and defend you if you were my girlfriend.’ And that hurt me because he is someone I really love. They’re going to let people talk about these lies because it’s fun to watch Nicki be a bad person. It’s sad.”

Nicki also clarified that the reason she and Cardi didn’t film the “MotorSport” music video together was due to scheduling issues, as they both used the same hairstylist. Nicki continued, “And when I had the chance to explain everything, no one did. Everyone made me look like a liar. I told Quavo, ‘You know if I don’t show up the day she shoots, they’re going to think I’m mean.’ So I ended up shooting another day. They all knew that and they did the interviews anyway. They went around just painting Nicki as the bad guy and playing the victim. It really, really, really hurt me because I was really, really supportive of her.”

Nicki also said that it’s not that she hates Cardi, she’s just frustrated that Cardi doesn’t show her any respect or love because of the “Nicki-hate trend”: “Until the last interview she did, I never saw her show any real affection for me. The last interview she did made me happy, which was when she said really nice things about me. I can only imagine how many girls would want to work with Nicki Minaj. I don’t mean to sound cocky, but… I mean, like, the first thing you say when someone asks you about working with Nicki Minaj is, ‘She changed her verse.’ Excuse me? So how did these changes happen if I didn’t “change” my segment?”

Fans also expressed their opinion that it’s not that the two female rappers really hate each other, it’s just that there’s a misunderstanding between them that hasn’t been resolved, and it all stems from… Quavo:
