2025 is a memorable year for Beyoncé. Finally, after 28 years, for the first time, the female singer holds the Grammy Album of the Year trophy for the most successful country album of 2024 – Cowboy Carter. This is also a historic victory when Beyoncé is the first black female artist in this century (counting the history of the award, only after Lauryn Hill in 1999) to win this category. Beyoncé brings her total Grammy trophies to 35, the artist with the most awards in history.

Beyoncé announced the launch of the Cowboy Carter World Tour, scheduled to begin on May 28, 2025. During this time, the “Queen of Pop” team is focusing on promoting and boosting ticket sales. However, up to now, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour is selling out at a rather slow pace. According to The Mix, Beyoncé only sold out 3/30 shows. Reports indicate that most of the concerts that have not been sold out have a large backlog of unsold tickets. 

Beyoncé has struggled to sell tickets in the UK. Earlier this month, The London Times published an article headlined “She’s a global superstar — so why can’t Beyoncé sell out her UK tour?” According to the article, Ticketmaster was preparing for an unprecedented “onslaught” when tickets went on sale.

Brits weren’t too keen on Cowboy Carter, which was Beyoncé’s challenge to make a country comeback. “Even though I’m a Beyoncé fan, I personally didn’t like Cowboy Carter as much as her other albums. So I decided not to buy a ticket,” one fan told The London Times.

However, Beyoncé’s ticket sales in the US are not much better. According to reports, 3 sold-out shows on the Cowboy Carter Tour are currently in France. The 6 unsold shows are mostly concentrated in Los Angeles, USA – the global entertainment mecca. With just over a month to go, the first show of the Cowboy Carter Tour will take place in LA on April 28, but so far, Beyoncé and the ticketing agency have not been able to resolve the difficult situation.

To explain this, many Beyoncé fans expressed their dislike for the album Cowboy Carter. Although it was highly appreciated by experts and even won a Grammy, this was not Beyoncé’s most explosive era. In terms of commercial achievements, Cowboy Carter was even overshadowed by albums by emerging pop girls like Sabrina Carpenter.

“Most of Beyoncé’s fans don’t like Cowboy Carter, they don’t like her. They bought tickets to her Renaissance two years ago and spent a lot of money on Taylor Swift concerts… The market is stagnant right now,” a music industry official told News Nation. Beyoncé’s ticket sales are a real concern, with another music industry official warning, “Sometimes you don’t retire. The audience retires you.” 

Audiences not liking the album and the volatile concert market have all negatively impacted Beyoncé’s ticket sales. But the biggest reason she’s struggled is because of her high pricing on this tour. Tickets are in the thousands of dollars, a huge amount for a concert. Fans have been booing since the ticket prices were announced.

“Beyoncé and Ticketmaster are driving me crazy. $950 for a decent seat before fees?”; “Beyoncé should be ashamed of these ticket prices. Man, we’re prepared to pay a lot, but $1,000+ for all the floor seating?”; “I paid $600 for my Renaissence ticket and got to sit right in front of the stage. Did winning a Grammy make her delusional to charge this much?”, I knew something was going on when I saw other concerts by terrible artists charging Beyoncé prices. Because now Beyoncé’s ticket prices are no longer Beyoncé’s ticket prices!”,… It’s not hard to come across a series of similar comments on social media.

Faced with opposition from the majority of fans, Beyoncé has yet to come up with a solution to improve ticket sales. People are worried that this tour will be a low point in the career of the queen of pop. With ticket sales so bad, many people think that Beyoncé should reconsider making country music, if she does not want to be “out of date” right now.
