The basketball legend competed aboard his own yacht, the Catch 23, in the tournament that took place at the Los Sueños Marina in Playa Herradura from January 23 to 25.
One can only imagine how frustrated the Michael Jordan of six NBA championship rings would feel witnessing his current performance in sport fishing.
Jordan arrived in Costa Rica on January 21 for the second time in the month to participate in the Triple Crown Billfish Tournament, which concluded on Saturday.
He competed with his personal yacht, the Catch 23. This sportfishing vessel boasts a maximum speed of 40 knots and a range of over 500 nautical miles.
However, the basketball icon’s performance was, to say the least, modest, falling short of the high standards he set during his athletic career. According to official tournament data, Jordan finished in 15th place out of a total of 46 participants.
The competition was won by the team aboard the Billfisher, which accumulated a total of 10,900 points over the three days of the tournament. In comparison, Jordan’s yacht secured only 6,000 points.
On a positive note, his team’s position did improve, moving up from 23rd place the previous day, the same number he famously wore during his illustrious NBA career. Specifically, the Catch 23 score was 1,800 on Thursday, followed by 2,100 on Friday, and 2,100 on the final day of competition.
Earlier this month, Jordan was in Costa Rica from January 6 to 12, participating in the Rockstar Offshore fishing tournament held at Marina Pez Vela, Quepos, Puntarenas.
